Effective November 1, 2024, applicants for a study permit must meet new eligibility criteria specific to their circumstances in order to qualify for a PGWP.

If you are graduating from a college program, your field of study must be deemed eligible. For programs with field of study requirements, you must graduate from a program aligned with occupations experiencing long-term shortages.

Eligible fields of study are categorized into five main areas:

- Agriculture and agri-food
- Healthcare
- Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)
- Trade
